London communication design and production co-operative Calverts has been appointed by the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) to research and design a new global co-operative identity mark. Calverts will also help to develop a new visual identity, signature images and key messages for the ICA and its regional and sectoral member organisations.
Provisionally timetabled for a November launch at the ICA’s General Assembly in Cape Town , the mark and identity have been commissioned in support of the ICA’s Blueprint for a co-operative Decade, aimed at strengthening the unity, visibility and reputation of co-operatives as a worldwide force for sustainable and democratic enterprise.
Calverts appointment was described by Client Services Director Siôn Whellens as ‘an honour – as well unique and challenging branding proposition’. The tender was offered to 29 design practices worldwide, and involved a two-stage pitching and selection process.
Make your mark on the mark
Co-operators around the world have been asked to help with research to inform Calverts’ designs by participating in a 22-question Co-operative Global Identity Survey which will be open until 9th May.
