The Worker Co-operative Solidarity Fund (SolidFund for short) held a development forum at Arcola Theatre in Hackney on October 14th 2015. The day was facilitated by Agile Collective and Co-operatives UK’s Worker Coop Council.
The main part of the Forum was a hackathon to write, design and build a website for the Fund, bringing together the skills and passion of worker co-op designers, web developers, writers, legal advisers and supporters.
SolidFund is a permanent common ownership resource, financed by voluntary contributions from individual worker co-operators and supporters of the ‘campaign for fair work’. The mission of the fund is to guarantee and support worker cooperative education, training, unity, self-reliance, independence, organisation and culture.
You can subscribe (for as little as £1 a week) at s.coop/solidfundjoin. All subscribers are automatically controlling members, which means they can participate in discussions and democratic decisions about how the Fund is deployed and developed, using the online democracy tool Loomio. To date, we have over 460 members, and the Fund stands at over £18,000
Big thanks to the people from Agile, Outlandish, Calverts, AltGen and all the others who made the day a great success.
